Rape suspect slain inside police station, cop hurt too

PARANG, Maguindanao  -- A 46-year-old rape suspect was killed by police officers after he allegedly grabbed a policewoman’s pistol and shot her during photo session and documentation, police said today.

Lt. Colonel Ibrahim Jambiran, Parang town police chief, identified he slain suspect as Mohamad Akmad, 46, a resident of Barangay Manion, Parang, Maguindanao who was nabbed for alleged rape.

Jambiram did not identify the police woman who was the stations head of Women and Children Protection Desk of Parang Municipal Police Office.

Initial investigation showed that the policewoman was taking mug shots and documentation for Akmad when he allegedly grabbed the cop’s pistol and shot her and other police officers.

Responding police officers shot dead Akmad as he tried to escape.

Jambiran directed his subordinates to rush both the suspect and the injured police officer to Regional Health Service of Police Regional Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRPO-BARMM).

However, Akmad was pronounced dead on arrival while the policewoman was declared out of danger by her attending physician.

The remains of slain rape suspect was later claimed by his relatives and later buried in Barangay Manion according to Islamic rites.
