PRO-12 cops undergo training as poll officials

GEN. SANTOS CITY - If there are teachers who refuse to serve for election duties for whatever reason, the police in Region 12 have prepared 200 uniformed personnel to act as poll officials, Brig. Gen. Eliseo Tam Rasco today said.

Rasco, PRO-12 regional director, said to help ensure the success rate of the coming elections, he ordered the establishment of reserve force who will eventually become board of election officials when the situation calls for it.

To equipped the police officers, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) have organized BEI qualification training for them.

There were two trainings conducted; the first one was held at Cotabato Provincial Police Office before the BOL plebiscite last January this year and the other one at PRO 12 Headquarters last Wednesday May 1, 2019.

At the training proper, lecturer from COMELEC 12 presented to the PNP participants the general instructions for ELECTORAL BOARDS and operational procedures of the Vote Counting Machine (VCM) in relevance with COMELEC Resolution No. 10460.

Certain protocols and parameters were also discussed during the presentation.

After the presentation proper, the participants were required to operate the VCM one by one to test their readiness to carry out their tasks during the election day.

The training of PRO 12 personnel for Electoral Board is only one of the measures being jointly undertaken by PRO 12 and COMELEC 12 together with other Government Agencies and Non-government Organizations to fully ensure that the success of a clean and fair 2019 Midterm Elections.
