KORONADAL CITY -- To help ensure 100 percent coverage of all Filipinos and make Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) services closer to its clients, PhilHealth 12 opens its second Service Desk in the region.

The Service Desk in Alabel, Sarangani province was the second such office opened by PhilHealth to bring its services closer to the people. The first was in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

The desk in Alabel is stationed in Sarangani Health Care Facility (SHCF).

Marjorie A. Cabrieto, PhilHealth 12 acting regional vice president appreciated the support extended by Dr. Arvin Alejandro, Sarangani provincial health officer and Dr. Ailyn M. Brion, SHCF chief of hospital.

“Thank you for allowing 100 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) to come and witness the opening. I am sure, as partners in the advocacy, it would be easier for us bring the message across our target clients who are the indigents and sponsored members,” Cabrieto said.

“Residents from nearby municipalities like Glan, Malapatan, Malungon and Balot Island, may come and tell us their concerns. I hope that you will help us tell more our members and their beneficiaries about this,” she added.

“It’s a must that PhilHealth should set up their Service Desk in this area. I hope that Sarangani Health Care Facility would soon be accredited since patients flock at the Royeca Hospital most of the time in Gen. Santos,” BHW President, Gina Manisan said in the vernacular.

Dr. Alejandro pledged to complete all the necessary requirements for immediate accreditation of said facility for the benefit of all PhilHealth members and beneficiaries in the area.

In behalf of SHCF, Dr. Brion committed to abide by PhilHealth rules and regulations. She is aspiring for the second level accreditation status of their hospital.

She also spoke in behalf of other government hospitals in Glan, Malungon, Maasim, Kiamba and Maitum.

Cesar Cagas, Sarangani provincial governor office chief of staff, assured PhilHealth that Gov. Steve Chiongbian Solon is willing to make everything come in full circle as he mentioned that health is everybody’s wealth and must not be taken for granted by the government.

“I am honestly grateful that PhilHealth Office is getting closer to our doorstep. It certainly is of great help especially for the marginalized community. We are looking forward to the immediate accreditation of Sarangani Hospital. PGO is always here for the support,” he said.

Like the Service Desk in Kalamansig, the Alabel office opens Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 – 5:00 except on holidays. (HGN)
