The suspect, Sanny Dario Dalagan, stands at the back as a PDEA agent account for the stuff seized from him.

GEN. SANTOS CITY  – Fed up by a neighbor’s frequent peddling of prohibited drugs and seeing suspicious new faces in the community, residents alerted authorities of illegal activities that led to suspects’ arrest.

Director Naravy Duquiatan of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12 said upon receipt of information from disturbed citizens about drug peddling in Barangay Apopong here, a surveillance operation was conducted.

After the information was confirmed, PDEA sent a poseur buyer who managed to secure P500 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride from Sanny Dario Dalagan, 24 in Yu Village, Barangay Apopong at past 1 p.m. on Friday.

Dalagan was quickly nabbed after he handed over the stuff to PDEA agent.  Two other sachets of shabu were seized from Dalagan, now detained at PDEA-12 custodial facility.

Duquiatan lauded the concerned citizens for alerting PDEA.  PDEA later learned Dalagan has been in the illegal drug business for several months.

Charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against Dalagan.

Dalagan’s arrest followed the arrest of Jefferson Abeco, also in Barangay Apopong on Friday, after neighbors tipped off PDEA about his activities.

PDEA agents, during drug buy bust operation, arrested Abeco and seized from him P2,000 worth of shabu.

Duquiatan said Abeco was in the PDEA drug watchlist. (EOF)
