COTABATO CITY  --- Anti-narcotics agents seized more than P900,000 worth of shabu from a  trafficker who fell in an entrapment in Malabang, Lanao del Sur Wednesday.

Mohammad Timan, an ethnic Maranao long wanted for large-scale trafficking of shabu in Lanao del Sur province, is now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Juvenal Azurin, director of PDEA-BARMM, said Thursday it was for the help of vigilant residents in Malabang that they managed to determine the exact location of Timan, enabling them to work out the sting that led to his arrest.

Azurin said the operation, assisted by the 5th Marine Battalion, the Police Regional Office-BARMM and the office of Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr., resulted in the confiscation from Timan of almost P1 million worth of shabu.

Azurin said local officials have confirmed Timan’s large-scale distribution of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Malabang and nearby towns in Lanao del Sur, a component-province of the Bangsamoro region.

He said they will prosecute Timan for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as Philippine Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
