Kidapawan radio station manager shot dead; another station manager hit with human waste

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – Unidentified gunmen riding tandem on motorbike shot dead a radio station manager here, a day after another station manager was hit by human waste in nearby Cotabato City.

Eduared “Ed” Dizon, manager of Brigada News FM, was driving his white car heading home after work at 10:05 a.m. when shot dead along Maharlika highway here.

Police Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found five empty shells for cal. 45 pistol near the victim’s car.

Soco members are still at the vicinity as of posting.

Dizon, former town councilor of nearby, Makilala, North Cotabato, was heading for home when shot near Colegio de Kidapawan (CDK) college.

He was negotiating a right turn when fired at by gunmen.

Colonel Maximo Layugan, police director for Cotabato province, said manhunt had been launched against the perpetrators.

Police are also reviewing the CCTV footages that captured the crime.

In Cotabato City, Brigada News FM-Cotabato station manager and Cotabato City Councilor Florante “Popoy” Formento was hit by cellophane filled with human waste at about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Cotabato City Vice Mayor Graham Nasser Dumama, city council presiding chair, said Formente, in his “barong tagalog” was on his way to the city council session hall when a man threw a cellophane that contained human waste.

After being hit, Formento and city council civilian security chased the suspect who made good his escape as Formento returned to his car still with human waste in his “barong tagalog.”

Dumama said investigation was continuing. No one has claimed responsibility.
