Inmate bolts South Cotabato provincial jail

KORONADAL CITY- Another inmate of South Cotabato Detention and Rehabilitation Center has escaped the detention facility on Monday, the third since late last year.Romeo Rufino, officer in charge of the jail facility, identified the escapee asAndy Evangelista, 28, resident of Norala town. He bolted the jail Monday dawn.Evangelista was arrested earlier this month for a series of carnapping cases pending in the sala ofRegional Trial Court Branch 26 in Surallah town.Initial investigation disclosed that Evangelista sawed offthe iron bar of his cell using hack saw bladewhich was used for the construction of other provincial facility inside the compound.Rufino admitted Evangelista hatched the plot and execute it while the rest of the inmates were asleep.A negotiation has been on going withe Evangelista's relatives for his immediate surrender.Meanwhile, South Cotabato Governor Daisy Avance-Fuentes ordered an in depth investigation into the incident to determine if there were lapses on the part of jail guards on duty.Records showed that this is the third incident where an inmate outsmarted jail guards since late last year.
