Husky bus catches fire in Tantangan, South Cotabato

TANTANGAN, South Cotabato - A husky bus bound for Cotabato Ctiy went ablaze while traversing the national highway in Barangay Magon here at 3 p.m.

Police said the bus (MWB-724), loaded with about 30 passengers, left at Koronadal Integrated Bus Terminal at about 2:30 p.m heading for Tacurong Ctiy en route to Cotabato City when the incident happened.

Abdulmanan Kendi, the bus driver, said the bus was in perfect condition when it left the Koronadal terminal.  He added that the bus had just been repaired in an electrical shop.

"When I smell something burning and noticed smoke at the rear of the bus I immediately pulled over and told all the passengers to alight," Kendi said, adding that the fire started at the vehicle's engine compartment situated at the back.

Nobody was hurt in the freak accident
