Davao City diversion road mishap kills 9, more were hurt

DAVAO CITY - At least nine persons were killed when a 10-wheeler truck (wing van type) loaded with sacks of rice lost its brake system and plowed vehicles and pedestrians along the diversion road, Matina Pangi, Davao City.

The highway mishap, one of the deadliest in Davao City, happened at about 9:35 this morning.

The injured were rushed to various hospitals in the city. Police said the driver of the wayward truck is now in police custody.
