KIDAPAWAN CITY - Two workers of North Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) were killed in an ambush by still unidentified gunmen Friday afternoon, police said.

Police Major Realan Mamon, Kabacan town police chief, identified the victims as Karen Dapon-Callos, 34, Cotelco Carmen sub-office Consumer Welfare Desk Officer of Purok Masagana Kabacan Cotabato and Basser Cabuyao, 35, Cotelco sub office security-officer and resident of Barangay Malamote, Matalam, North Cotabato.

The victims were on board a motorbike when unidentified gunmen shot them along Sitio Lumayong, Barangay Kayaga at about 4:50 p.m.

Cabuyao died on the spot while Callo was rushed to the hospital by responding civilians but expired later.

Police said hold up was one of the possible motive but probers are still looking at other angles.

Meanwhile, the Cotelco management strongly condemned the attack on its employees.

Engr. Godofredo Homez, Cotelco general manager, said the cooperative is in solidarity with the bereaved families of the victims.

Callo has been employed by Cotelco for the past 10 years while Cabuyao has been employed for the past three years.

Homez has called the police to unmask the perpetrators and bring them before the bar of justice.
