COTABATO CITY – The Cotabato City Sangguniang Panglungsod today condemned the freak attack against one of its members.

City Vice Mayor Graham Nasser Dumama, presiding officer of the city’s legislative body, said the attack against Councilor Florante “Popoy” Formento was “unacceptable and unfortunate.”

“It was sad it happened to one of our colleagues, and within the SP premises at that, we condemn this act,” Dumama said.

Dumama told GMA News that Formento was on his way to the session hall of the city council Tuesday morning when an unidentified man put human waste on him.

The suspect quickly fled. Formento chased the suspect but made good his escape.

“An elected official should not be treated like that,” Dumama said adding that efforts are underway to prevent similar weird incident, especially within the premises of the Sangguniang Panglungsod.

In his privilege speech, Formento cited similar incident during the inaugural session.  It was kept away from local media and was not reported to police.

GMA tried to reach out to Formento, currently manager of Brigada News FM, but he refused media interviews. (FC)
