Cops hunt down suspect behind murder of police officer in Maguindanao highway

SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao  – Police here have launched manhunt against two men on motorbike who shot dead an off duty police officer Sunday in Barangay Gang here.

 

Major Julhamin Asdani, Sultan Kudarat town police chief, said the local police is following up a lead that will hopefully resolve the murder of Patrolman Asraph Pasandalan Mato, 30, a member of Regional Mobile Force Battalion in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RMFB-BARMM) and a resident of Barangay Semba, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Asdani said the victim was driving his motorbike at past 1 p.m. Sunday along the national highway in Barangay Gang, Sultan Kudarat when gunmen on separate motorbike shot him from behind.

Mato fell off from his bike and died on the spot while the suspects sped away.

The ambush site happened in front of many people since it happened beside the highway where a “kalilang” (wedding celebration)

Manhunt had been launched as investigation continues.
