COTABATO CITY --- The police detained in Parang, Maguindanao a physician charged with 26 counts of cybercrime in a court in Zamboanga City.

Lt.Col. Ibrahim Jambiran, chief of the Parang municipal police office, confirmed in a written report dated September 24, 2019 that they are in custody of Chao-Tiao II New Yumol of Lamitan City in Basilan province.

Yumol surrendered to the Bangsamoro regional police office, also located in Parang town in the first district of Maguindanao, earlier the same day.

Yumol was charged with violation of Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, for allegedly maligning on Facebook the complainants who filed cases against him.

Sources from intelligence units of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division and the Bangsamoro police said Yumol arrived in Cotabato City from Manila on Monday via a Cebu Pacific flight.

The 26 warrants for Yumol’s arrest were signed and released by Judge Gregorio Dela Peña III of the Regional Trial Court Branch 12 in Zamboanga City on September 19, 2019.

Each of the warrant recommended an P80,000 bail bond, or a total of more than P2 million worth of bail bond for his temporary liberty.

Jambiran said they will turn over Yumol to the court that ordered his arrest.
