KIDAPAWAN CITY – Arson investigators are looking at electrical malfunction as one of the causes of the Sunday night conflagration that damaged business establishments here.

Capt. Marjorie Jenna Aggabao-Resurreccion, Kidapawan City fire marshall, said arson probers are also looking at other possible causes, including unplugged appliances, of the fire that affected and damaged a call center, boutique, care and health insurance office and a wedding planner office.

The establishments were situated at the second floor of Coronica-Dayao building along the national highway, Kidapawan City.  At the ground floor of the building was Asia United Bank (AUB) Kidapawan branch.

The 11 p.m. conflagration destroyed some P300,000 worth of properties and valuables.

A witness told reporters that the fire quickly spread after it started since the partitions were only made of plywood and light materials.

It was the third fire that hit the city since July 30. An old ancestral home went ablaze on July 30 that shut down internets and telephone services for three days.

On August 5, a fire also hit residential areas in Kalye Putol, Barangay Poblacion, Kidapawan City.
