Army detachment commander nabbed for peddling shabu in North Cotabato

GEN. SANTOS CITY - Operatives from Police Regional Office 12 (PRO12), Tulunan MPS, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency  (PDEA North Cotabato) and members of 39th IB arrested two  suspects including a High Value Target (HVT) who turns out to be a member of the Philippine Army in a buy-bust operation at Barangay New Bunawan, Tulunan, Cotabato on October, 24, 2019, at 2:55PM.

According to Brig. Gen. Alfred S Corpus, one of the arrested was identified as Army Sgt Oscar Dapriza who is a detachment commander of Barangay Lampagang, Tulunan, North Cotabato, under Delta Company  of the 39th IB, Philippine Army.

Suspect was arrested together with Myrene Ferino, 45 years old, single and a resident of Glan, Sarangani Province.

Recovered from the possession of the suspects was 1 gram crystalline substance suspected as “Shabu” with estimated street value of Php 6,800, marked money amounting to PHP 1,000 on topped of boodle money, one unit 9mm Glock17, two magazines with eight (8) rounds of 9mm ammunition, and one motorcycle.

Charges for violation of Section 5 of Article II of RA 9165 and 10591 are being prepared against the suspects.

“This is a warning to all of those members of any law enforcement or government agency. You are not excuse from the campaign against illegal drugs. I just want to remind those who are in service including our police personnel in this region, we are at the forefront of this campaign against illegal drugs, involvement in this kind of illegal activities is not tolerated and will never be," Corpus said.

"We are law enforcers, we must perform our mandates with credibility and decency, and I challenge the PRO 12 personnel, for once let us prove that indeed, the Police Officers of region 12 are greater than what their badge stands for,” Corpus added.
