COTABATO CITY  -  Agriculture and Fisheries are top industries which the Bagnsamoro region can offer to investors both foreign and local investors given the region’s vast lands and rich water resources.

The statement was issued by Minister Abuamri Taddik of the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MTIT-BARMM) during the first ever BARMM Investments Priorities Plan (IPP) public consultation held on October 14, 2019 in Cotabato City.

This will be the first IPP that will be approved and implemented during the transition period from the now-defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) into the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) after the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) in a two-part plebiscite held on January and February 2019.

RBOI Chairman Ishak Mastura said that series of IPP consultations will be organized region-wide as part of the agency’s effort to reach out for more people, the LGUs, business sector, investors and other stakeholders.

“We encourage them to participate and help us identify investment priority areas to be incorporated in the BARMM IPP List,” Mastura added.

The BARMM IPP is a list of economic activities that will serve as basis for granting of incentives to qualified companies that will be investing in the region.

“The inputs and recommendations of the participants are vital in coming up with a relevant BARMM List that will lure more investors to come and do business in the region,” Mastura said.

Eshan Karl Mabang, RBOI Executive Director said that the BARMM IPP List will be anchored on the 12-point agenda of the Bangsamaro government aligned with the Philippine Development Plan of the Duterte Administration. (Shamerra Abobakar)
