KIDAPAWAN CITY — Insisting he has no participation whatsoever in the murder of radio broadcaster here, one of the three suspects charged with murder, showed up to the Kidapawan City police and surrendered on Monday morning, Oct. 7.

Sotero Jacolbe, also a radio announcer, was one of the three suspects charged with the killing of broadcaster Eduardo Dizon of Brigada News FM-Kidapawan on July 10.

The other accused were Dante Tabusares, alias Bong Encarnacion, and Junell Gerozaga.

With his wife carrying his personal belongings like beddings, Jacolbe presented himself at past 10 a.m. to Lt. Colonel Ramel Hojilla, Kidapawan City police director.

Jacolbe surrendered a week after a warrant of arrest had been issued against him and two others.

On the days the Kidapawan City prosecutor’s office filed the complaint in court, Jacolbe showed up to the police and offered that he be jailed to prove his innocence.  The police rejected his request saying there was no warrant of arrest yet.

“I am innocent, I am ready to face the charges against me in court,” he told reporters. “I have no hand in the murder of Dizon, my best friend.”

"I heard I have a WA (warrant of arrest), so I came over to verify with the police warrant officer who confirmed indeed there is," Jacolbe told reporters.

Jacolbe was tagged as one of the lookout of the crime when he was sighted at the Brigada Farmacy. "I was there to buy medicine not as lookout or what," he insisted.

The lawyers of Tabusares and Gerozaga questioned the murder charge claiming there was no prima facie case.

Dizon, former town councilor of Makilala, North Cotabato, was a block timer host of Brigade News FM Radio, when murdered.

He was driving his car on his way home to Makilala at past 10 p.m. when two men riding tandem opened fire on him. He died on the spot.
