COTABATO CITY  – Police authorities in Carmen, North Cotabato has appealed to motorists passing by the town to always bring motor vehicle documents and driver’s license.

The appeal was aired by Police Capt. Jorlito Patrona, Carmen town police chief, after the implementation of “Oplan Lambat Bitag,” an anti-carnapping, anti-crime operation, netted 205 assorted motor vehicles on Saturday.

Patrona said the campaign was focused on motorcycles that criminals and law offenders regularly used as getaway vehicle after committing crimes.

“Almost 98 percent of the crime suspects use motorcycles in fleeing crime scene,” Patrona said in a radio interview here.

While motorcycles as the focus of operation, Patrona stressed that all kinds of vehicles are being flagged down as part of anti-car theft program of Philippine National Police.

Violations during the Friday to Saturday “Oplan Lambat Bitag” operation include lack or expired driver’s license of motorists and no or expired motor registration.

Patrona noticed that most of the alibis motorists presented include they left motor papers at home and driver’s license in a wallet that was left back home.
