Gov. Catamco graces North Cotabato police kick off ceremonies for women's month

KIDAPAWAN CITY – North Cotabato Gov. Nancy Catamco today lauded the women police officers for their vital role in promoting peace and harmony in the work place and at home.

Catamco was guest of honor and speaker when the (North) Cotabato police provincial office, led by Colonel Maximo Layugan, kicked off today the month-long celebration of National Women’s Month and the International Women’s Day on March 8.

This year’s theme is “We Make Change Work for Women,”

Councilor slain, priest hurt in shooting

A village councilor was killed and a priest was injured in a shooting in San Pablo City, Laguna on Monday.

Authorities identified the fatality as Richard Galit, 36, married and councilor of the city’s Barangay Conception.

Also hurt in the attack was Fr. Emil Larano, who is the director of the San Pablo Diocesan Catholic School System.

Initial investigation showed that Galit was the main target of the attack.

Child badly hurt in attack by stray dogs in Isabela City

BASILAN - A five year-old boy was badly hurt in an attack Monday by ten stray dogs in Isabela City.

The incident was first reported Monday morning by station dxNO in Isabela City.

A photo of the badly injured child on a hospital bed immediately went viral on social media.

Some 300 residents have reportedly been bitten by dogs in Isabela City in recent weeks, according to dxNO.

Neighbors help PDEA arrest 2 drug peddlers in GenSan

GEN. SANTOS CITY  – Fed up by a neighbor’s frequent peddling of prohibited drugs and seeing suspicious new faces in the community, residents alerted authorities of illegal activities that led to suspects’ arrest.

Director Naravy Duquiatan of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12 said upon receipt of information from disturbed citizens about drug peddling in Barangay Apopong here, a surveillance operation was conducted.

SK kagawad, pinsan patay sa vehicular crash sa Kidapawan City

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Dalawa ang nasawi ilang oras matapos na masangkot sa vehicular crash sa Barangay Mateo, Kidapawan City.

Naganap ang aksidente alas 7:00 ng gabi nitong linggo.

Nakilala ang mga nasawing biktima na sina Nilo Catihan, 21 anyos SK kagawad ng Barangay Ganatan, Arakan, Cotabato at ang pinsan nitong si Lady Catihan, 22 anyos na kapwa nakatira sa Barangay Ganatan.

Ayon sa ulat, binabaybay ng mga biktima ang National Highway na minamaneho ng lalaking si Catihan.
