2 men with hand grenade nabbed in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat on poll day

ESPERANZA, Sultan Kudarat (May 13) -- Police and military authorities arrested two persons at a police and Army checkpoints for possession of a hand grenade.

Reports from Sultan Kudarat police provincial office arrested about 8 a.m. two men on board a motorbike later identified as Edwin Panaligan and Ronny Magtulis.

The two failed to show motor vehicle registration records and when checked a hand grenade was found inside the motorbike's u-box.


4 VCM di gumana sa Magpet, North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Pumalya at hindi gumana ngayong hapon ang apat na mga Vote Counting Machine (VCM) sa apat na barangay sa Bayan ng Magpet North Cotabato.

Nitong hapon sabay sabay na hindi gumana ang mga VCM sa barangay ng Basak, Imamaling, balite at Manonisa.

Ayon kay Magpet election officer Diosdado Javier, pahirapan umano ang signal sa naturang mga barangay dahilan para mahirapan din sila sa pag update kung may mga pumalyang VCM.

Ang iba umano ay kinailangan pang bumaba ng barangay Poblacion para makapag padala ng resulta.

Treasurer carrying P6-M, driver survive Maguindanao ambush

COTABATO CITY – A town treasurer of Maguindanao transporting P6 million cash and her driver survived an ambush in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao Saturday morning.

Colonel Ronald Briones, Maguindanao police director, said the ambush occurred at 8:30 a.m. along the national highway in Barangay Taviran, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.


"Vote-buyers" arrested in Mlang, North Cotabato

MLANG, North Cotabato -- Four persons were arrested by police for violation of election laws after they were caught in possession of more than P200,000 cash and campaign materials for gubernatorial candidate Roger Talinio and vice gubernatorial candidate Emmylou Talinio Mendoza.

Two of the four persons were lay leaders of Catholic Church or "Kaabags."

They were allegedly involved in vote buying activities in Barangay New Kalibo, Mlang, North Cotabato on Friday night.


Mendoza accuses Pinols of threats, abuses

KIDAPAWAN CITY - North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza who is running for vice governor issued a statement on the reported vote buying by four of her supporters in Barangay New Kalibo, Mlang, North Cotabato uncovered by police authorities on Friday night.

Firearms seized in Cotabato City village chief’s residence

COTABATO CITY -- Police seized two firearms and ammunition from the house of a village chief here on Tuesday.

In a report forwarded to media outlets here on Thursday, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-BARMM) identified the arrested suspect as Peter Cortez Morales, village chief of Barangay Rosary Heights 1, this city.

“The raid forms part of Oplan Paglalansag Omega currently being implemented in areas covered by CIDG-BARMM,” said Police Col. James Gulmatico, head of CIDG-0BARMM, in a statement.


Army unit’s ‘loudspeaker ops’ enjoin Maguindanao residents to vote

TACURONG CITY -- An Army battalion commander has kept himself busy reaching out to locals in nearby Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun town of Maguindanao to go out and vote for the May 13 polls.

Lt. Col. Elmer Boongaling, the commander of 33rd Infantry Battalion (IB), had hopped from one village to another on Wednesday in his personal campaign to help voters exercise their rights of suffrage.

“This is one way of ensuring peaceful, orderly and credible elections on Monday,” Boongaling said in an interview by reporters here Thursday.


Polomolok, Pikit, Kalamansig, Esperanza lead 2018 Seal of child friendly local governance awardees

The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) has released the names of 50 cities and municipalities in Region 12 that were awarded with 2018 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance that included Cotabato City and other cities in the Soccsksargen region.

The town of Polomolok in South Cotabato got the highest rating of 98 followed by Pikit in North Cotabato with 97 and the towns of Esperanza, Kalamansig and Pres. Roxas coming in third with a grade of 94.
