PRO-12 "one-time-big-time" opn nets 35 wanted men

3 hurt in North Cotabato grenade attack

NORTH COTABATO --- Three partygoers were injured in a grenade blast in Barangay Bagolibas in Aleosan town at past 4:00 p.m. Monday.

Eleuterio Macaya Cantomayor, 64, Randy Poja Cantomayor, 44, and the 13-year-old Genie Cantomayor, who sustained shrapnel wounds in different parts of their bodies, are now confined in a hospital.

They were together in a group celebrating the birthday of a relative in a house in Barangay Bagolibas when a man on a motorcycle arrived, pulled over and hurled at them a fragmentation grenade.


TESDA execs aid Makilala quake victims

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – More than 700 families affected by the series of earthquakes in Makilala, North Cotabato have received relief assistance from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

No less than Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) and TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña led TESDA employees and officials in distributing P350,000 worth of goods to quake victims in Barangays Malabuan and Malungon, Makilala, North Cotabato.


Big losses in businesses due to tremors

KIDAPAWAN CITY  --- Officials placed at P3 billion their initial estimate of losses in businesses in Kidapawan City in the past three weeks due to strong earthquakes that jolted the area during the period.

Psalmer Bernalte of the Kidapawan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, or DRRMO, said Friday one reason for the constraint is the closure of  commercial establishments in buildings whose structural durability are still subject to assessment by engineers.


Magnitude 4.2 quake jolts North Cotabato; Intensity III felt in Kidapawan

KIDAPAWAN CITY - An Intensity IV triggered by Magnitude 4.2 quake hit Makilala town early evening Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.

The quake which came at 6:16 p.m. was traced 28 kilometers east of Makilala and part of the aftershocks of previous major shake. 

Phivolcs said tremor was also tectonic and it came more than five hours after a Magnitude 4.1 quake hit Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.

Funeral parlor owner shot dead in Koronadal

KORONADAL CITY- Patay ang isang lalaki matapos pagbabarilin dakong ala una ngayong hapon lamang sa labas ng isang flower shop malapit sa Rizal Park, Koronadal City.

Kinilala ang biktima na si John Togonon, may-ari ng Rest Heaven Funeral, residente ng Sueno Village sa lungsod.

Ayon sa report, bumili ng bulaklak para sa patay si Togonon at isasakay na sana sa kanyang kulay itim na Toyota Hilux (NAE 2967) nang biglang lapitan ng hindi pa nakikilalang suspek at pinagbabaril ng tatlong beses sa ulo.


Phivolcs expert explains why aftershocks occur

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Ipinaliwanag kahapon ng PHILVOCS ang dahilan ng magkasunod na pagyanig na naitala sa malawak na bahagi ng Mindanao noong buwan ng oktubre.

Sinabi sa Radyo BIDA Phivolcs Supervising Research Specialist Jeffrey Perez na magkakatabi- tabi ang mga fault lines ng North Cotabato kayat normal na kapag gumalaw ang isang fault line, gagalaw din ng bahagya ang katabing bitak.

At darating ang araw na ang katabing bitak o fault line ay gagalaw na lang ng sa kanya kayat magkakaroon ng mga aftershocks.


Fire hits Tupi, South Cotabato

TUPI, South Cotabato -  Three houses were razed to the ground by a fire in Sitio Glandang, Barangay Kablon, Tupi Thursday morning.

The houses are owned by Mr. Virgilio Dansel Sr., Mr. Virgilio Dansel, Jr. and Mrs. Norvelyn Pajares.

REsponding MDRRMO Tupi Response Team, BFP - Tupi and BDRRMC Kablon immediately repsonded and put off the fire before it could damage more houses made of light materials.

Food and non-food items were already provided by MDRRMO-Tupi to the affected families. - (based on the report of MDRRMO Tupi)


2 killed in latest Marawi gun attack

LANAO DEL SUR --- Gunmen shot dead two persons and wounded another in a daring attack in Marawi City on Thursday morning.

Col. Madzgani Mukaram, police director of Lanao del Sur, identified the fatalities as Jorge Butad and Arturo Macasero, who died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

Their companion, Dave Mursua, who was wounded in the incident, was rushed by responding barangay folk to the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City for treatment.


6-month old baby dies in quake hit area due to dehydration

MAKILALA, North Cotabato - Patay ang anim na buwang sanggol na bakwit dahil sa matinding dehydration sa Purok Lubi New Bulatukan, Makilala, North Cotabato.

Sinabi ni Municipal Health officer Dr. Georgina Sorilla, nitong linggo ay nakitaan anya ng mga rushes at nagtatae ang bata na nakilalang si Windcesz Arella Piala.

Agad naman siyang nilapatan ng gamot hanggang sa isinugod na nila sa ospital pero ideneklarang patay ng mga doctor.
