Fire hits Lebak public market

LEBAK, Sultan Kudarat - A fire of still unknown origin gutted down portions of the public market (Agora 4) of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat Friday dawn.

Arson investigators are still determining whether the fire was intention or accidental.

Nobody was hurt.  Cost of damages is still being determined.

Magnitude 4.2 quake jolts Columbio, Sultan Kudarat

KORONADAL CITY - A magnitude 4.2 quake jolts southern Mindanao early today, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In a bulletin, the Phivolcs said the tremor came at 2:37 a.m. and was traced two kilometer south of Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.  It was tectonic in origin and has a depth of 2 kilometers.

No damaes to properties have been reported as of posting.

Cotabato Light announces power interruption for Sunday, March 15

COTABATO CITY - The Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) today announces a franchise-wide 30-minute power interruption on Sunday, March 15 due to National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) scheduled power interruption.

The interruption will come at 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Kidapawan exec imposes stricter measures vs. COVID-19

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – Mayor Joseph Evangelista of Kidapawan City today suspended classes in all levels, both public and private schools as part of the preventive measures against coronavirus.

The suspension order takes effect at 1 p.m. today, March 13.

It was contained in an executive order he issued outlining preemptive response to complement existing mechanism already being implemented to ensure Kidapawenios are safe from coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).

Fire prevention month: Cotabato Light issues fire prevention tips

COTABATO CITY - The Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) has issued safety tips to prevent household fire to be observed consistently by the public as the country observes “Fire Prevention Month.”

“These tips are to be observed all year round, not only during this month so we save lives and properties,” Judy C. Sanchez Cotabato Light AVP and General Manager said in a statement.

Cotabato City remains COVID-19 free but mayor reminds public vs. panic buying, misinfo

Lanao Sur governor refutes drug offender's being "jail guard" 

COTABATO CITY --- Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. denied Wednesday having in their roster provincial jail guard Walid Usman,  arrested for possession of P1.3 million worth of shabu Sunday.

In a statement, Adiong said the identification card confiscated by police agents from Usman detailing his employment as guard in the Lanao del Sur provincial jail was fake.

Jail guard arrested in foiled Marawi shabu smuggling attempt

COTABATO CITY --- The police foiled Sunday an attempt by a jail guard to smuggle into Marawi City P1.3 million worth of shabu.

Walid Usman of the Lanao del Sur provincial jail, is now in the custody of the Marawi City police.

He was intercepted in Barangay Tampilong, Marawi City by a police team, acting on tips from confidential informants privy to his supposed delivery of shabu to a local buyer from a supplier outside of the city.
