Army division IG named Task Force Kutawato chief

COTABATO CITY  – An Army colonel has been named as the new chief of the military-led Joint Task Force Kutawato (JTFK).

Major Gen. Diosdado Carreon, commander of the 6th Infantry Division, presided over the turnover of command Friday morning at the JTFK headquasrters, PD Hill, Cotabato City where Colonel Joel Abregana replaced Colonel Jose Narciso.

Colonel Narciso was named new commander of the Army’s 601st Infantry Brigade based in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.

Abregana is the concurrent Inspector General of the 6th ID.


South Cotabato town police chief, 12 men relieved

TANTANGAN, South Cotabato - Temporaryong inilipat sa ibang Police Station ang 13 pulis ng Tantangan Municipal Police Station, kabilang ang Chief of Police nito na si Capt. Romeo Albano Jr. dahial wala sila sa pwesto nang magsagawa ng surprise inspection ang National Police Commission (Napolcom).

Ayon kay Provincial Director ng South Cotabato Police Colonel Joel B. Limson, ang surprise inspection ay bahagi ito ng internal cleansing sa PNP.


PNP-12 condemns, probes murder of Kidapawan radioman

GEN. SANTOS CITY -  Police Regional Office (PRO) 12, under the leadership of PBGEN ELISEO TAM RASCO, Regional Director condemns in the strongest possible terms the recent shooting to death, that took place on Wednesday night, of a media practitioner/commentator namely Eduardo Sanchez Dizon of Brigada-News Kidapawan.

The victim was traversing Quezon Boulevard, Kidapawan City at about past 10 in the evening on his Mitsubishi Mirage when he was shot to death by not yet identified suspects.


Slain radioman was once Oblate Media member


COTABATO CITY -- A former member of the Oblate Media community, Eduardo “Ed” Dizon, of an FM station in Kidapawan City, was killed by gunmen Wednesday night in Kidapawan City.

He was on his way home from work when he was attacked by men on motorcycles armed with pistols. He sustained five gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, causing his immediate death. 


Cotabato City council condemns attack vs. Councilor Formento

COTABATO CITY – The Cotabato City Sangguniang Panglungsod today condemned the freak attack against one of its members.

City Vice Mayor Graham Nasser Dumama, presiding officer of the city’s legislative body, said the attack against Councilor Florante “Popoy” Formento was “unacceptable and unfortunate.”

“It was sad it happened to one of our colleagues, and within the SP premises at that, we condemn this act,” Dumama said.


Kidapawan radio station manager shot dead; another station manager hit with human waste

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – Unidentified gunmen riding tandem on motorbike shot dead a radio station manager here, a day after another station manager was hit by human waste in nearby Cotabato City.

Eduared “Ed” Dizon, manager of Brigada News FM, was driving his white car heading home after work at 10:05 a.m. when shot dead along Maharlika highway here.

Police Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found five empty shells for cal. 45 pistol near the victim’s car.

Soco members are still at the vicinity as of posting.


Maguindanao village exec, wife, die in Cotabato ambush

COTABATO CITY – A Maguindanao village chair, his wife, village treasurer and watchman were all killed in a midday ambush along a busy street here, police said.

Police Major Esmael Madin, chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Maguindanao) said Datu Nurodin Mangandian Guiaman, 34, chairperson of Barangay Tuka, Mamasapano, Maguindanao, was the last to expire while undergoing medication in an undisclosed hospital.


Phivolcs records 53 aftershocks following magnitude 5.6 quake in NoCot

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has recorded 53 aftershocks following the 8:36 p.m. first tremor traced 15 kilometers west of Makilala, North Cotabato. The latest was felt at 8:56 a.m. with a magnitude of 4.9.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista has ordered the suspension of office works after cracks were found at the building.  Assessment of the building was going on.


“Boodle fight” seals cordiality among Isabela City residents

ISABELA CITY --- A “boodle fight” banquet among Muslim and Christian leaders and newly-elected officials in Isabela City, Basilan Monday restored cross-section cordiality dampened for so long by hostile politics.

Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, Vice Mayor Kifli Salliman and leaders of the local Catholic community led by Bishop Leo Dalmao celebrated Monday the city’s feast day via a traditional military style “boodle fight” banquet to show religious solidarity among Muslim and Christian groups.


P6.8-M shabu seized, 4 suspects nabbed in PDEA-BARMM anti-drug ops

COTABATO CITY  – Anti-narcotic operatives on Saturday arrested four drug suspects in separate anti-drug operations here and in nearby Cotabato province.

Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), said the twin operations led to the recovery of about P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu.
