Cops eye land dispute in murder of 3 in Kabacan

KIDAPAWAN CITY -Authorities are looking at a deep-seated land conflict as behind the brutal slay of a couple and their 14-year old daughter in a village in Kabacan, North Cotabato, over the weekend. Chief Inspector Ronnie Cordero, chief of Kabacan Police, said it was likely that the victims knew their perpetrators or ‘close to them.’ Cordero said he has already hints as to who could be behind the killings of Roger Gracia, 47, his wife Milka, 49, and daughter Danny Anne, 14. He, however, refused to divulge their identities. The Gracias suffered gunshot wounds in the head.

MANILA (PNA) -- Military pressures brought about by Joint Task Group Sulu forced the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits to release a public school teacher they were holding captive shortly after midnight Saturday.Col. Durian candy triggers abdominal pain, nausea among pupils

KIDAPAWAN CITY -Fortyfour pupils of Kidapawan CentralPilot Elementary School (KCPES) were rushed to the city hospital complaining ofstomach pain and nausea several minutes after consuming durian candy they bought from an ambulant vendor on Thursday morning. Most of the school children belonged to Grade 5 and Grade 6 levels, according to a school adviser who refused to be named. Dr. Gerry Reyes, Kidapawan City Hospital resident physician, admitted to reporters the children were rushed to the hospital due to abdominal pain and vomiting.
