Piñol clan, Catamco proud of COVID-19 positive frontliner 

COTABATO CITY --- The politically influential Piñol clan is sad with a member now positive to COVID-19 but proud of his dangerous frontline roles that exposed him to the disease.

Emmanuel Piñol, chairman of the Mindanao Development Authority, announced to reporters via online Messenger Friday that his nephew, Shane Mathew, indeed tested positive to coronavirus, but has no symptoms of the dreaded disease at all.

Zambo priest dies in highway mishap

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A priest died in a road accident while returning home to his parish coming from a birthday celebration in this southern port city, police reported Thursday.

The accident occurred in Barangay Mercedes here at about 11:13 p.m. Wednesday, killing Fr. Alfredo Alavado, parish priest of Barangay Manicahan, chief of the Zamboanga City Police Office’s Station 4, Maj. Chester Natividad, said.

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Isang sachet ng iligal na droga ang nakumpiska ng mga tauhan ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency o PDEA 12 at Magpet PNP sa ikinasang operasyon nito laban sa iligal na droga alas 6:15 ng umaga kanina sa Purok 5a, Sitio Palo 2, Barangay Pangaoan, Magpet Cotabato.

Kinilala ang naaresto na si Vergilito Remulano Magalso, 43 years old, na taga Mateo Kidapawan City.

Si Magalso ay empleyado ng Magpet LGU at nagpakilalang driver ni Magpet Mayor Florenito Gonzaga.

Ang isang sachet ng pinaghihinalaang shabu ay naka silid sa kaha ng posporo.

MinDA chair’s nephew tested positive to COVID-19

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – A newphew of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) chair Emmanuel Piñol has been tested positive to coronavirus disease (Covid-19) while serving as frontliner in North Cotabato.

Shane Matthew Piñol works as member of the North Cotabato’s “Sagip Cotabateño” who assisted returning North Cotabateños coming from COVID-19 high risk areas.

“A young member of the Piñol Family has tested positive of COVID 19,” Sec. Emmanuel Piñol, chair of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), said in a statement, referring to his 20-year-old nephew.

Father-and-son tandem nabbed in P3.4 million worth shabu entrapment deal

PAGADIAN CITY --- Agents seized P3.4 million worth of shabu from a father-and-son drug trafficking tandem busted in an entrapment operation here Thursday.

Macacuna Ali Gunting, 53, and his 27-year-old son, Bokhia, both residents of Marawi City, capital of Lanao del Sur, are now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-9.

In a statement Friday, the PDEA-9 said the duo fell in an entrapment operation here, laid with the help of local officials and their relatives in Lanao del Sur.

Cotabato Light announces power interruption in 3 SK villages

COTABATO CITY - The Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) today announces power interruption on June 27, Saturday, in three villages of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

These areas are Barrio Manobo, Barrio Katuli, Barrio Mulaog.

The scheduled power cut was to be done to ensure the safety of linemen working on the relocation of the primary pole in the affected villages. 

Power will be immeidately resumed once the job is done ahead of schedule.

COTELCO: No day-long brownout that affects students' on-line summer classes

KIDAPAWAN CITY – The management of Cotabato Electrict Cooperative, Inc (Cotelco) clarified the issue that some students in North Cotabato were not able to attend summer on-line classes due to the power interruptions.

According to General Manager Engr. Godofredo B. Homez, admitted Cotelco coverage area has experienced series of unscheduled and scheduled power interruptions from June 5 to June 7, 2020.

He said it was unintentional and uncontrolled.

However it did not last for a whole day that would affect students in their on-line class.
