P3-M destroyed in Pigcawayan fire triggered by electrical short circuit

North Cotabato – Arson investigators here said electrical short circuit
triggered the fire that destroyed the old municipal gymnasium and the business
establishments on its side.

Senior Fire
Officer Rene Villarma, investigator on case, said the fire which started at
past 1 a.m. was triggered when electrical connections from the Cotabato
Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) electric post to one of the establishments
suddenly sparked.


Military warns of BIFF attacks on civilian targets

others were killed when suspected lawless group set off a roadside improvised
bomb in a Maguindanao highway Tuesday night, the military here said.

Radioman shot dead in Zamboanga del Sur

PAGADIAN CITY– The National Union of Journalists in the Philippines (NUJP) today reported another one (of its own) bites the dust. In a statement, the NUJP reported that aradio broadcaster in Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur was shot to death around 8 p.m. Tuesday.In a media alert, the NUJP, identified the victim asElvis Ordaniza, who was in his 50s. He sustainedtwo bullet wounds in his chest from a cal. 45 handgun. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.Quoting a police report, the NUJP said Ordanizawas shot while inside his residence.


Blast rocks Cotabato City-based NGO office

COTABATO CITY -– Another blast rocks Cotabato City Tuesday night, police said.At about 7:30 p.m., unidentified men riding on a motorbike tossed a hand grenade at the
office of Mindanao Tulong Bakwit,a non government organization helping evacuees due to armed conflictin Maguindanao and nearby provinces.It was the second explosion to rock the city this month. Early in February, an improvised bomb went off at the back of Cotabato City POlice Station 1.Nobody was hurt in two separate explosion.Senior Supt.


Lebak PNP One Time Big Time nets 4 illegal drug suspects, guns

LEBAK, Sultan Kudarat -- Four persons have been arrested by police authorities here following the implementation of One Time Big Time Operation over the weekend.In a statement issued by Police Chief Inspector Benhur Catcatan,Lebak Municipal Police Office officer-in-charge, said one of thosearrested was Haron Gonda of Barangay Kinudalan. The raiding team seized 17 sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, a cal. 38 revolver,P200 cash drug money and other shabu paraphernalia.Also arrested was Babo Erna in Barangay Poblacion, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
