COTABATO CITY - Members of Bukas Kotse gang struck Sunday night in front of busy commercial establishment of Cotabato City and burglarized a police officer's car.Police officer (PO2) Allan Macarimbang of Maguindanao PNP was surprised how the robbery transpired at 7 p.m. when the parking area of Las Hermanas Restaurant on Sinsuat Avenuewas bustling with early evening shoppers.Macarimbang told police he parked his Hyundai EON car (AGG 1757) and entered the establishment.

Cops arrest man on wedding day for frustrated murder

South Cotabato -– The law may be harsh but it is the law, so the old adage
said.

Rodelyn Estoque,
30 realized thisafter police arrested her long time partner, Rodel, a foreman and resident of Barrio 12, Sto Nino town,right after their marriage at theCatholic Church here on Saturday.

Police
belonging to the Regional Public Safety Battalion served the warrant of arrest
for Estoque who was facing frustrated murder charges.

He denied the
charges but he did not resist arrest, his wife said.

NGCP steel tower in Aleosan repaired

ALEOSAN, North Cotabato - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has completed repair works of a bombed steel tower in BArangay Pagangan here, police and NGCP today said.Melfrance Capulong, speaking for NGCP, said repair works of Tower No. 63 was completed on Saturday without resistance from lawless elements responsible in setting off impprovised bomb on January 14.NGPC line men immediately conducted the repair works during the first hours of Friday after two of the four legs of steel pylon was damaged.

Comelec-12: ‘No identified election hot spots in Region 12 yet’

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Region 12 has not yet identified any hotspot or election watchlist area in the region in connection with the May 9 local and national elections.Michael Abas, Comelec Region 12 director, said Thursday the assessment of the potential election hotspots in the region is still ongoing in coordination with local units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).He said they are specifically evaluating localities that were listed as hotspots in the previous elections.

Cop set to marry on Jan. 30 dies in Koronadal highway mishap

KORONADAL CITY - A police officer scheduled to marry his girlfriend later this month died in a motorcycle crash Thursday dawn along a major highway here, DXOM-AM Radyo Bida reported today.Police Officer (PO1) Gilbert A. Cura, 30, of Tampakan, South Cotabato was declared dead on arrival at the South Cotabato provincial hospital after his motorbike crashed at about 2 a.m.Cura was with a friend,Jorar Cardenas 25, a resident of Barangay Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City when the accident happened.

Blast rocks Midsayap's outskirt village

MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato – A
loud explosion believed to be from improvised explosive device (IED) rockedan
outskirt village here Tuesday night, authorities said.

Nobody was hurt when the
blast occurred at past 10:30 p.m. in Purok Mirasol, Barangay Polomoguen,
Midsayap, North Cotabato, according to Army Capt. Melvin Macatangay.

Macatangay, spokesperson of
the 602nd Infantry Brigade, said nobody was reported injured since the
blast site was isolated and often frequented by outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic
Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

Maguindanao LP bet shot dead in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY - A candidate for town councilor in Maguindanao under the ruling Liberal Party was shot dead by still unidentified gunman Wednesday evening nearthe city plaza.
Police identified the victim as Macawali Saranga, 38, a resident of Oring, Buldon, Maguindanao.Investigation showed that Saranga was standing at the corner of Don Rufino Avenue and Dorotheo Street, just beside the Cotabato Puericulture Center and General Hospital when shot at 7:20 p.m.

Man in motorbike mishap arrested for shabu possession

MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato - If not for the vehicular accident that injured a resident of Barangay Poblacion here Wednesday morning, he would have get away with his illegal activity.After he figured in a vehicular accident at past midnight today, Marvin Flauta was arrested for possession of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, more known as shabu. Police investigation showed Flauta was driving his motorbike at about 12:30 a.m.
