101 informal settlers get home lot in Kidapawan housing project

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The Kidapawan City government has officially turned over ownership of home lots for residents living near rivers and creeks government agencies believed to be at risk of calamities.After more than a year of waiting, the beneficiaries, 101 of them, are sure of getting relocated in a resettlement area in Barangay Magsaysay.A drawing of lots was held Tuesday, according to Councilor Judith Navarra, chairperson of Sangguniang Panglungsod committee on housing.More than 260 more beneficiaries failed to participate in the drawing of lots due to lack of documentary requirements like


AboitizPower’s 150MW coal in Toril to go on full commercial operations

KIDAPAWAN CITY – At least 150 megawatts of power would be added to the Mindanao grid once the Therma South’s coal-fired power plant stationed in Toril district, Davao City would be operational by Friday, an official said. Wilfredo Rodolfo III, communications manager of AboitizPower, said they already notified their customers that their plant will start to deliver power to their customers, among them are the Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) based in Matalam town and Cotelco-PPALMA based in Midsayap town, all in North Cotabato province.


4 banana haulers die in T'boli highway accident

KORONADAL CITY - Four workers of a banana plantation in South Cotabato were killed, two others injuredin a highway mishap Tuesday morning in T'boli, South Cotabato, officials said.T'boli Mayor Dibu Tuan said the Isuzu Elf hauler truck fell on a 200 feet cliff while negotiating a sharp downward portion of the highway in Sitio Kinalom, Barangay Salacafe at 7 a.m. The road was very slippery due to an overnight downpour, Tuan told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida. Buluan cops hunting down 5 men in student's rape-slay

BULUAN, Maguindanao - After initially denying there was rape case in his area of jurisdiction, Senior Insp. Victor Pansoy, town police chief here, has ordered a massive manhunt against five more men believed to have been involved in the alleged rape of a studentand the burning of a canteen, including the victim.Pansoy said three men were arrested for their alleged involvement in the rape-slay of a an 18-year-old working student, Bainora Solaimanof Mahad National High School in Barangay Poblacion on Sept. 5.

KORONADAL CITY - A married woman was found dead in Banga, South Cotabto Sundaywhile a barangay health worker was shot dead Monday in Tacurong City.Josie Cabelaje, Barangay Health Worker of Barangay Baras, Tacurong City was shot in the head by an unidentified man who quickly fled on board a motorbike.Police Supt. Junny Buenacosa, Tacurong City PNP chief, said Cabelaje has just alighted from a tricycle in front of the city public marketat past 1 p.m. when the gunman shot her in the head from behind.She died on the spot.


South Cotabato starts search for Outstanding Model Family

KORONADAL CITY -- The search is on for Outstanding Model Family in South Cotabato.A committee has been conducting evaluation at the barangay level in Polomolok, Tupi, Tampakan, Tantangan, T'boli, Lake Sebu, Banga, Surallah, Norala, Sto Nino and Koronadal City.The evaluation has commenced after the South Cotabato provincial board passed an ordinance for the search and appropriating P300,000 funds thereof, said Zenaida Duron,provincialpopulation officer.Successful families in all towns will compete in the provincial level.


Atty. Wilfrido Bueno, Mr. public servant, dies

COTABATO CITY – The pioneer member of the Cotabato
City's 1st Sangguniang Panglungsod, Atty. Wilfrido Bueno, has passed
away Saturday.

He was 85 years old.

Bueno, more known as Willie” and Mr. public servant among his peers,
returned to the Lord’s Kingdom at 2:30 p.m. Saturday while at the Intensive
Care Unit (ICU) of the Notre Dame Hospital due to lung complications.
