South Cotabato cop survives assassination attempt

POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato -- A police officer survived an assassination attempt in Barangay Pagalungan here on Monday night.Supt. Jose Briones, South Cotabato police provincial director, identified the victim as PO1 Joel Suminog.Suminog, assigned with the South Cotabato Police provincial public safety company, was riding on his motorbike heading for home when two men raiding tandem on separate motorbike opened fire on him at past 7:45 p.m.


Cops arrest illegal recruiters, rescue victims

DOJ to file charges vs. suspects in Mamasapano incident

COTABATO CITY -- The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will file murder and multiplecharges against 90 individuals, including members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)in connection with the Mamasapano incident.Justice Sec. Leila de Lima said piles of evidences will be forwarded to the National Prosecution Service.The filing of chargeswas based on the recommendation of Joint Special Investigation Team that also included direct assault, murder and theft.De Lima was confident the case will prosper due to strong evidences.

6th ID disposes seized improvised bombs

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao -- The Army's 6th Infantry Division Bomb Disposal Unit Thursday detonated hundreds of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) recovered, confiscated and seized in various military operations in its area of jurisdiction.
