Magnitude 5.0 quake hits Davao Occidental coast

COTABATO CITY -- A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the coastal town of Saranggani in Davao Occidental at 5:17 p.m. Monday, the state volcanology office said.In a news bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), said the earthquake which was tectonic in origin was traced 397 kilometers east of Saranggani town and has a depth of 46 kilometers.No casualty or damage to property was recorded.It was the third earthquake to hit the coast of Davao Occidental since January 23.

Grass fire, culprit in 2-hour power outage in Cotabato City, 8-hour in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY – A grass fire in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao triggered more than 2-hour
power outage in Cotabato City and 8-hour inMaguindanao Friday night and
Saturday morning, the NGCP said.

Capulong, speaking for the NGCP, said one of its transmission wooden poles was burned
and toppled in Barangay Salimbao, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao at 10:57 p.m.

ZAMBOANGA CITY- - Government operatives have killed in a shootout a suspected big time drug pusher and captured eight others in Basilan province, a military official announced Friday.Maj. Felimon Tan, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, identified the slain drug pusher as Abubakar Mohammad alias Abubakar Adali Asa of Maluso, Basilan.Tan did not release the identities of the eight people captured during the shootout.Tan disclosed the shootout broke out around 5:45 a.m.

15 hurt in Maguindanao highway mishap

SULTAN
MASTURA, Maguindanao – At least 15 persons were injured in a
vehicular accident in the national highway in Barangay Tambo here Friday
morning, DXMS-AM RAdyo Bida reported today.Chief
Insp. Wendelyn Banico, Sultan Mastura town police chief, said involved in the
highway mishap which occurred at 6:30 a.m. today were a passenger van and an
idle Isuzu Elf truck.

said initial investigation showed the van (MWE-333) was heading toward Cotabato
City when it hit a parked cargo truck loaded with copra in Barangay Tambo.
