SoCot hosts House BBL consultation in Koronadal

KORONADAL CITY - South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes raised three important issues during the House adhoc committee on Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) consultations here Friday. We have to be certain not to create chaos because we want to give peace a chance in Mindanao, Fuentes said during the public consultations.She expressed three important issues during the public hearing and consultation.These are1. The law provides a heavy bureaucracy 2. The pulling command of PNP and Military and 3. The equal land distribution.

Cotelco signs contract for more power supply

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) is set to sign a contract with San Miguel Power Corporation (SPMC) for the 10 megawatt power supply.But Vincent Baguio, speaking for Cotelco-Main, said the 10 megawatt for North Cotabato power consumers will come from SPMC coal-fired power plant which will be operation next year yet. Baguio said the power procurement was part of Cotelco's efforts to meet the power demand of North Cotabato consumers. Signing will take place at Cotelco-Main office in Matalam, North Cotabato.

Cops arrest 2 hospitalized men for attempted murder, robbery

COTABATO CITY –
Two men riding tandem on a motorbike who figured in a vehicular accident were treated
at a government hospital here but with handcuffs.

This after a
man wounded in a shooting incident and rushed in the same hospital pointed to
them as the same persons who robbed and shot him on Monday afternoon along Don
Rufino Alonzo Avenue here, police said.

Pikit police chief relieved

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The police chief of Pikit, North Cotabato has been relieved 10 days after the bloody bombing of a Church that left three persons dead and two others wounded.But Senior Inspector Jojet Nicholas, police provincial office spokesperson, said the relief of Inspector Mautin Pangandigan as police chief of Pikit has nothing to do with the bombing or the rash of criminality in town highlighted by agaw motorcycle cases.Aside from bombing, two cases of motorcycle theft occurred in the same area where the victims, a student and a soldier, were separately killed, their motorbike taken

Military warns public vs. unexploded bombs

CAMP SIONGCO,
Maguindanao – The military is reminding residents in Maguindanao, North
Cotabato and part of Sultan Kudarat against unexploded ordnance, especially in
former war zones.

Unexploded
ordnance litter in areas where soldiers and Moro bandits clashed in the
past. They include landmine, mortars,
grenades and many others.

Suspect in Magpet village blast known, Army say

MAGPET, North
Cotabato – Military and police authorities here have identified one or two
suspects in the explosion in Barangay Balete on Wednesday night.

First
Lieutenant Nasrullah Sema, commander of the 57th Infantry Battalion Charlie
Company, refused to name the suspect who planted an improvised explosive device
(IED) at an under construction house near the village basketball court where
the soldiers were stationed.

Earlier
report said a rifle grenade was fired from a distance.

Remains of 2 dead males in SoCot identified, claimed

STO NINO,
South Cotabato – Police here have identified the dead bodies of two males found
along a dirt road here last Tuesday.

Police Senior
Inspector Virlen Pampolina, Sto. Nino police chief, said the remains of Datu
Ali Kanid, 20 of Barangay Laguilayan, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat and Malik Kanid of
Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao were claimed by their respective families
Wenesday.

Army, PNP launch joint manhunt vs suspect in soldier's murder

PIKIT, North
Cotabato – Police and military authorities here have launched joint manhunt
against two men riding tandem on a motorbike who shot a soldier and took his
motorbike Tuesday.

Senior
Inspector Mautin Pangandigan, Pikit police chief, said Private First Class
Prenel Obeso, member of the 57th Infantry Battalion Alpha Company,
was driving his motorbike along the Aleosan-Pikit highway when shot dead by one
of two men.

The suspects
on board separate motorbike tried to overtake the soldier then shot him in the
head.

Mlang's senior citizens get 3rd quarter pension from DSWD

MLANG, North Cotabato - About684 senior citizens from Mlang's37 villages have received their third quarter pension amounting to P1,500 each on Tuesday. Cynthia Biag, municipal social welfare and development officer (MSWDO), said DSWD regional office 12 has facilitated the release of at least P1,026,000 for theelderly in Mlang. Biag explained for the elderlyto qualify asbeneficiary, they must be 70 years old and beyond and their names should be included in the list of the National Housing Targeting System on Poverty Reduction or (NHTSPR).
