Cops eye extortion in So. Cotabato bus bombing

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PNA) -- Police authorities are eyeing extortion as behind the bomb explosion inside a passenger bus in Polomolok town in South Cotabato around noon Thursday that injured 18 people.Chief Supt. 6th ID sends 150 recruits to basic military training

Indian in lending business found dead in N. Cotabato town

KIDAPAWAN CITY --A 27-year old Indian national was found dead in a sugar plantation in a remote village in Matalam, North Cotabato Thursday, police said today. Chief Inspector Elias Colonia, municipal police station in Matalam, identified the victim as Ranjit Singh Brar, a national from Langiana Khurd, Bagha Kurana district in Moga Punjab in India. Brar was identified by a relative. Colonia said the victim was choked to death using a tight rope as evidenced by bruises in his neck. Investigators hinted Brar’s murder was a victim of hold-up/robbery.

KIDAPAWAN CITY -Four suspected big-time suppliers of methamphetamine hydrochloride or locally known as shabu were arrested by joint elements of the North Cotabato Provincial Police Office (CPPO) and the Army’s 7thInfantry Battalion in a surprise raid in at least five suspected drug dens here early Wednesday morning.Senior Supt. Legislators in N. Cotabato town pass speed limit ordinance

KIDAPAWAN CITY -Legislators in nearby Makilala town have laid down an ordinance regulating the speed limit of motor vehicles along its national highway. Makilala vice-mayor Ricky Cua, presiding officer of theSangguniang Bayan, said the increase in the number of road accidents that happened from January to August this year has prodded them to pass Ordinance Number 294-2015. They cited, in particular, an incident which involved the granddaughter of a former town councilor who died after she was hit by a speeding van.
