Cotabato City executive assistant to the mayor shot dead

COTABATO CITY  – Unidentified gunmen shot dead the spokesperson of Cotabato City government while taking his breakfast at a carenderia Monday morning.

Rolen Balquin, chief of Cotabato City Public Safety Officer, said Aniceto “Boy” Rasalan, 58, secretary of Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, was shot while taking his breakfast at roadside restaurant along Notre Dame Avenue, Cotabato City at past 7 a.m.

Balquin said Rasalan who was alone was shot in the head while eating at Se Hua carenderia at about 7:10 a.m.

Fire on electric post triggers power interruption in Parang

PARANG, Maguindanao – A fire on an electric post triggered emergency power interruption in Parang Feeder Sunday night.

Timely response from the Maguindanao Electric Cooperative lineman prevented the fire from damaging other electric posts in Sitio Balite, Barangay Making, Parang, Maguindanao at 8:30 tonight.

“We will restore the line after fixing the problem,” the Magelco said in a statement.

Halos 200 traffic violators, sinita, pinagmulta ng LTO sa Kidapawan

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Nasa 191 na mga traffic violator sa Kidapawan City ang pinagmulta sa one day operation ng Regional Land Transportation Office o LTO.

Ang mga major violation ay hindi nakapagrenew ng kanilang mga rehistro at hindi rin nakapagrenew ng kanilang lisensya.

Ayon kay LTO- Kidapawan Chief Genalinda Ganotice, ang operasyon ng mga law enforcer ay inaprubahan ng LTO-12 regional director at ang tanging mga sinita at pinagmulta ay yaong mga hindi naapketuhan ng Community Quarantine o bago pa man ipinatupad ang lockdown.

KORONADAL CITY - A fire of still unknown origin hit two business establishments along Datu Piang Street, Zone 4, Koronadal City.

Arson investigators said the initial damages were estimated to cost about a million pesos.

Release of marine life back to the wild highlights Month of the Ocean 2020 in Sarangani

MALAPATAN, Sarangani province – A juvenile Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas) finally returned to its natural habitat after eight months of rehabilitation since it was rescued in Sarangani province.

Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer (CENRO) of Glan Abdul D. Cariga said the species was released May 20 at Barangay Tuyan, this town, the same place where it was rescued September last year.

According to reports, local fisherfolks rescued the weakened sea turtle after it was entangled in their fishing net.

Cotabato Light explains higher electricity bill during summer

Cotabato Light and Power Company customers will see an increase in their recent electricity bills in view of their higher energy usage during the summer months.

The electric utility has observed that the average consumption of residential customers has increased significantly by 17%. Some customers’ bills have even doubled when comparing a pre-summer month like February versus April.

PDEA, cops arrest 3 suspected drug peddlers, seize P680K worth of shabu

COTABATO CITY  – Acting on tips from concerned citizens, joint police and anti-narcotics operatives conducted drug buy bust operation that led to the arrest of three persons, a woman included, and recovery of Php680,000 worth of suspected shabu.

The buy bust operation was conducted in Barangay Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao, about 500 meters away from the Army’s 6th Infantry Division headquarters.

11-year-old girl is Cotabato City's 9th COVID-19 positive and region's 23rd

COTABATO CITY - An 11-year-old girl in this city who was associated with the region's 17th COVID-19 positive also tested to have the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health today said.

In its May 20 situation report, DOH Soccsksargen said the girl is still awaiting PH number from DOH-Manila.

She had association with the 17th patient in the region, a 26-year-old government worker in Cotabato City hall.

Meanwhile, DOH-12 reported two deaths today.
