8th fire hits Kabacan, North Cotabato in 6 days

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – A fire of still unknown origin razed to the ground four business establishments and a boarding house in Kabacan, North Cotabato before dawn today, officials said.

The eight fire to hit Kabacan since December 1 when seven homes were intentionally set ablaze allegedly by a minor.

David On Saure, Kabacan, municipal disaster risk reduction and management action officer, said in a radio interview that the conflagration started at about 2 a.m. along the rows of business establishments.

Fire out was declared at 5 a.m.


1.2M worth of smuggled cigarettes confiscated

Magnitude 5.6 quake rocks Davao Oriental

GEN. SANTOS CITY - A Magnitude 5.6 quake rocked Davao Occidental tonight with the tremor's epicenter traced 169 kilometers away from Jose Abad Santos town.

Phivolcs said it was tectonic in origin and aftershocks are expected after the 8:24 pm quake.

Reported intensities:

Intensity III - Glan, Malapatan and Alabel, Sarangani
Intensity II - General Santos City; Koronadal City and Tampakan, South Cotabato


Cotelco's "libreng pailaw" starts month in quake hit town

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A “Libreng Pailaw" project is set to benefit some 60 households in Sta. Catalina, Barangay San Vicente, Makilala, North Cotabato through “Sitio Electrification Program” of Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) starting next year.

Ginapahigayon na ang clearing sa dapit nga malabyan sa linya ug gilaumang makumpleto bag-o mutapos ang tuig 2019.

Tumong sa programa nga mapasug-an ang Hilit ug Lagyong dapit sa kaLungsuran ug matungkad ang Pamilyang nangandoy sa Kahayag sa Sugang Dagitab.


Kidapawan water district announces repair of support facilities

Ongoing dismantling of 1.336 m3 steel tank for retrofitting @ the MKWD filtration plant compound in Barangay Perez damaged by the series of earthquakes within a span of 2 weeks.

Once retrofitted, this structure will be used for storing water and released during occurence of high turbidity and during peak hours.

MKWD is doing its best to restore its water facilities. Dili lalim ang damages.

UPDATE: P600k offered as reward for suspect in brutal murder of "Barbie" in Banga town; suspect is mom's BF

BANGA, South Cotabato – A P600,000 bounty has been offered for the identification, arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the brutal murder of a 16-year old student here whose remains were found inside a sack Wednesday.

Mayor Albert Palencia of Banga offered P200,000 cash reward to add to the bounty offered by Rep. Dinand Hernandez. A businessman based in Koronadal City reportedly offered another P200,000 as reward money.

Kinilala ang biktima na si Barbie Inocencio, 16 anyos at mag-aaral ng Notre Dame of Banga na ilang araw ng nawawala at pinaghahanap ng kanyang mga magulang.

Maaalalang huli itong nakita noong Disyembre 2, 2019 ng hapon kung saan nakasuot pa ito ng kanyang uniform.


Cotabato City's most wanted person killed 

COTABATO CITY ---Authorities killed in a brief shootout Tuesday the elusive Alip Kitab, who ranked first from among top ten most wanted persons in Cotabato City.

Kitab, an ethnic Maguindanaon, was wanted for more than a dozen high-profile cases pending in different courts.

The operation that resulted in his death was assisted by the city government, whose chief executive, Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, is known for her iron-fisted stance in maintaining law and order in all 37 barangays under her jurisdiction.


Minor arrested for alleged arson attack

NORTH COTABATO --- Authorities arrested today a 12 year old boy tagged in the burning of seven houses and establishments in different sites in Kabacan town before dawn Monday.

The child is now in the joint custody of the Kabacan municipal police and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

He was seen by witnesses roaming suspiciously, carrying a plastic container, around the houses and roadside stores razed by fire one after another from between midnight Sunday and until before dawn Monday.
