3 Soccsksargen hospitals lose PhilHealth accreditation

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) has suspended and withdrawn the accreditation of three major private healthcare providers in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) due to alleged fraud.

Dr. Antoniette Ladio, acting regional vice president of PhilHealth-12, said on Saturday they issued a writ of execution of suspension to the General Santos Doctors Hospital Inc. (GSDHI) here.


Former ARMM lawmaker named "RH champion"

COTABATO CITY --- A former lawmaker in the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao was named "reproductive health champion" for having authored a law benefiting RH stakeholders in five southern provinces.

Social media blogs and radio reports on Saturday said former Assemblywoman Irene Tillah of the 24-member ARMM Regional Assembly was cited last week by the Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development, or PLCPD, for her role in the enactment of the autonomous region RH law.


Lanao Sur anti-polio campaign to start Oct.14

LANAO DEL SUR --- The police and the Western Mindanao Command will mobilize Monday in support of the mass anti-polio immunization drive in the province.

The United Nations Children’s Fund, the Department of Health and the health ministry of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao will launch on Monday in Marawi City, capital of Lanao del Sur, a Mindanao-wide anti-polio campaign.


Lanao Sur in mass vaccination after 'polio' outbreak

MARAWI CITY-- Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Bombit Adiong Jr. has opened the province to mass anti-polio vaccination, as health authorities have set immunization of childten 0-5 years old on October 14.

This developed as Vice-Governor Mohammad Khalid “Mujam” Raki-in Adiong invited local chief executives of the province's 36 municipalities, and officials of concerned local agencies to a Provincial Board inquiry on a reported outbreak of polio, recurring in the country after 19 years.


Suspected polio patient confined at Cotabato hospital

COTABATO CITY --- The health department has quarantined a three-month old infant suspected of having been afflicted with poliomyelitis.

The child is now confined at the Cotabato Regional Medical Center here.

The Department of Health-12 confirmed Thursday that the child was admitted early this week at the CRMC for fever and paralysis of one leg.

The hospital has initiated tests to determine if the patient had indeed contracted poliomyelitis, according to Jenny Panizalez Ventura, information officer of DOH-12.


BARMM issues haze warning

COTABATO CITY - The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE-BARMM) issued Friday, September 20, a transboundary haze alert for areas in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The warning is in relation to reports of haze spawned from forest fires in Indonesia, which currently affects the neighboring countries of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Timor Leste, and the Philippines.


Cotabato City gets 6 DOH Sandugo awards


COTABATO CITY  – Six villages here have received the Sandugo Award from the Department of Health in the Soccsksargen region, City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi today said.

Three of these villages also received special recognition for achieving at least one percent blood donors in their respective total populations.


Mangudadatu helps patient from outside his congressional turf

MAGUINDANAO --- This news outfit learned today, Sept. 6,2019, from relatives that 61-year-old ethnic Iranun Miraga Awil Gambao died from a lingering illness at the Cotabato Regional Medical Center in Cotabato City and left some P200,000 worth of hospital bills.

Maguindanao 2nd District Rep. Esmael Mangudadatu, despite Gambao’s being from the 1st district of the province, provided his family with an initial 50,000 cash assistance and promised the hospital management to help find a way on how to settle the patient’s account.


PopCom-12 launches its “SPEAK-UP” bookmarks for adolescents

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The Commission on Population and Development (Popcom-12) launched its “SPEAK-UP” bookmarks, a gender-responsive Information-Education-Communication (IEC) material for adolescents and youth, during the 3rd Quarter Local Government Population Management Conference (LGPMC) at Hoff’s Mansion Inn, Kidapawan City.

The event was attended by the population officers and workers from the cities of General Santos, Kidapawan, Koronadal and Cotabato and from the provinces of South Cotabato, North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat.


2 deaths, rising dengue cases push Kidapawan to declare calamity

KIDAPAWAN CITY   –– The death of two patients and the rapid increase of dengue cases in this city’s 40 villages have forced the City Council to put the entire city under state of calamity.

This made Kidapawan City the fifth local government in Mindanao to declare state of calamity due to dengue, a preventable disease.

Mayor Joseph Evangelista said the Sangguniang Panglungsod, upon the recommendation of the city disaster unit, has approved a resolution putting the city under state of calamity during its session Thursday.
