528 Pawikan hatchlings released in Sarangani Bay

KORONADAL CITY – Some 528 baby sea turtles made their way back home after being released to their natural habitat at Barangay Lumasal, Maasim, Saranggani on Friday, May 16 at around 5:30 in the afternoon.

The olive ridley sea turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) were born at Maasim Pawikan Hatchery, the biggest number of hatchlings recorded since its establishment in 2015.

MKWD announces water service interruption

COTABATO CITY -- The Metro Cotabato Water District announces water low pressure area for May 19, Sunday in some areas in the city, the MCWD said in a statement on FB.

At 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 17 low water pressure was experienced in old slaughter house area, Tulingan/Usman subdivision, TV Juliano AVenue, Tanghal subdivision, Roales subdivision and Espino area.

This was due to repairs along Alonzo Avenue.

On Sunday, teh affected areas are Poblacion 8 and 9 and Rosales Street, Cotabato City.


Bombing foiled in Marawi City during elections

MARAWI CITY - Four men believed to be members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) attempted to sabotage the election in Marantao, Lanao del Sur at about 5:20 p.m. Monday.

Colonel Romeo Brawner, commander of 103rd Infantry Brigade, said the four MILF members attempted to throw grenade or improvised bomb at soldiers guarding a precinct near Bagong Elementary School where voting was taking place.

"The explosives hit a half-opened windshield of Toyota Hi Ace van and exploded inside," Brawner said.

Two persons seriously injured and two others were arrested.


BARMM’s 1.98-M voters expected to troop to polling precincts Monday

COTABATO CITY – Almost 2 million registered voters in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) are expected to cast their votes to elect 12 senators and eight members of the House of Representatives in tomorrow’s midterm elections.

Based on Comelec data, BARMM has 1,980,441 registered voters as of last plebiscite on the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) in January in five provinces, three cities, 116 municipalities and 2,590 barangays.


Kidapawan police chief relieved

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Na-relieve sa kanyang pwesto bilang hepe ng Kidapawan City PNP si Police Lt. Colonel Ramel Hojilla kaninang umaga.

Isinagawa rin kanina ang turn-over ceremony sa pag-upo ni Police Lt. Colonel Ma. Joyce Birrey bilang bagong hepe.

Si Hojilla rin ang pumalit sa iniwanang pwesto ni Birrey sa Cotabato Police Provincial Office o CPPO bilang deputy police director for administration.

Si Hojilla ay tumagal sa panunungkulan bilang hepe sa loob ng mahigit isang taon at pitong buwan sa Kidapawan City.


Soccsksargen Warriors 3rd runner up in 2019 Palarong Pambansa

KORONADAL CITY - The Soccsksargen delegates to the 2019 Palarong Pambansa in Davao City emerged as the best delegates from Mindanao after it bagged third runner up honors from among the 16 regions.

"Landing as third runner up is the highest standing Region 12 have reached so far," the Department of Education (DepEd 12) said in a statement.

Soccsksargen region, known as Soccsksargen Warriors, was also judged as the "Most Organized Delegation."

Soccsksargen warriors brought home 26 gold, 43 silver and 40 bronze medals.


Cotelco workers slain in Kabacan ambush

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Two workers of North Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) were killed in an ambush by still unidentified gunmen Friday afternoon, police said.

Police Major Realan Mamon, Kabacan town police chief, identified the victims as Karen Dapon-Callos, 34, Cotelco Carmen sub-office Consumer Welfare Desk Officer of Purok Masagana Kabacan Cotabato and Basser Cabuyao, 35, Cotelco sub office security-officer and resident of Barangay Malamote, Matalam, North Cotabato.


Cop, trader slain in Cotabato City shooting

COTABATO CITY - Dead on arrival sa pagamutan matapos na pagbabarilin ng mga di nakilalang mga suspek ang isang pulis sa De Mazenod St. RH4 Cotabato City ala sais kagabi.

Ang biktima ay nakilalang si Patrolman Franklin Ampad Moyet, 27 years old, nakatagala sa City Mobile Force Company at taga Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

Base sa inisyal na ulat, minamaneho ni Moyet ang kanyang Zusuki motorcycle sa De Mazenod Avenue nang tabihan ng dalawang lalaking sakay ng hiwalay na motor at pinaputukan.


PRO-12 cops undergo training as poll officials

GEN. SANTOS CITY - If there are teachers who refuse to serve for election duties for whatever reason, the police in Region 12 have prepared 200 uniformed personnel to act as poll officials, Brig. Gen. Eliseo Tam Rasco today said.

Rasco, PRO-12 regional director, said to help ensure the success rate of the coming elections, he ordered the establishment of reserve force who will eventually become board of election officials when the situation calls for it.
