10 more cases of COVID-19 in PH

In a press briefing today, Assistant Secretary Dr. Maria Rosario Vergeire confirms 10 additional cases of COVID-19 bringing to a total number of 20 confirmed cases in the country.

Dr. Vergeire stated that the samples were collected from March 6-8 and the results were released today, March 9, 2020.

COVID-19: 163 Filipinos from Macau are patients under investigation

A total of 163 Filipinos considered as patients under investigation for COVID-19 from Macau were repatriated yesterday, March 7, 2020, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Department of Health Secretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that repatriated Filipinos will not be brought to the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac since they will be subjected to home-based quarantine. 

The Department of Health confirmed Saturday that the fourth confirmed COVID-19 case is an employee in Taguig City while the fifth confirmed case is a resident of Cainta, Rizal.

Cop killed, son wounded in Marawi ambush

COTABATO CITY -- Gunmen killed a police officer and wounded his son in a daring ambush Thursday in Marawi City.

Patrolman Abdul Mojib Ditucalan was declared dead on arrival by physicians at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.

In a statement Friday, the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said investigators are still trying to establish the identifies of the gunmen behind the fatal ambush of Ditucalan.

Planes to fly in Central Mindanao Airport before 2020 ends

 

MLANG, North Cotabato - Governor Nancy Catamco fulfills her word as she sets the Signing of Deed of Sale of properties and disbursement of payment for the land areas utilized for Central Mindanao Airport facilitated by Cotabato Provincial Government today.

The event is graced by DOTR Assistant Secretary Jim Melo who expressed confidence to the administration of Governor Catamco.

Magnitude 4.3 quake jolts Makilala, North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A magnitude 4.3 quake rocked Makilala, North Cotabato Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In a bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake came at 9:03 a.m. and its epicenter was traced 14 kilometers west of Makilala.  It was tectonic in origin.

Aftershocks are expected, the Phivolcs said.

Pres. Duterte appoints new DA 12 chief

KORONADAL CITY - A new torch bearer of the agri-fishery sector in SOCCSKSARGEN Region officially accepted the key of responsibility of leading the Department of Agriculture (DA) 12.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte appointed public servant Arlan Musa Mangelen as the new DA 12 regional executive director.

Mangelen, who was the former regional director of the Land Transportation Office 12, will now lead the implementation of the different agriculture-fishery programs of the DA under the ‘New Thinking for Agriculture’ approach of Secretary William Dar in Region 12.

Talitay mayor gunned down in Malate, Manila

The mayor of Talitay, Maguindanao, Abdulwahab Sabal was gunned down in front of a hotel in Malate, Manila on Monday night, police and online news reported Tuesday.

Lt. Colonel Samuel Pabonita, Manila Police District Station 9 commander, said the victim was about to enter a hotel along Quirino Avenue when he was shot.

Sabal and three other companions were about to enter the main entrance of the hotel when the suspects on board motorbikes opened fire.

The gunmen remained unidentified.

Magnitude 6.4 quake (later reduced to M6.1) jolts south-eastern Mindanao, 4 strong aftershocks follow

GEN. SANTOS CITY - A magnitude 6.4 quake rocked south-easter Mindanao Thursday evening, the state volcanology office reported today.

In a bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor struck at 940 p.m., tectonic in origin and was traced 85 kilometers east of Jose Abad Santos town in Davao Occidental. It has a depth of 47 kms.
