BARMM identifies 196 Filipino attendees to Malaysia Tabligh gathering

COTABATO CITY -- A total of 196 of the 215 Filipino-Muslims who attended a Tabligh (Islamic preachers) gathering in Malaysia has now been identified by the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 (BARMM-IATF).

The gathering, attended by over 16,000 people, was held from February 27 - March 1, in Kuala Lumpur's Jamek Sri Petalling Mosque. It was reported to be linked to the spike of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Malaysia.


21 of 215 Filipino Muslims in Malaysia event tested positive of Covid-19

COTABATO CITY  - The National Commission of Muslim Filipino (NCMF) in Region-12 has confirmed that 21 out of 215 Filipino are still being held for quarantine and medication in Malaysia after outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic hit the gathering of Islamic missionaries in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Cotabato Ice plant temporarily halts operation to help prevent spread of COVID-19

COTABTO CITY -- The Cotabato Ice Plant, Incorporated (CIPI), the leading supplier of ice blocks located inside the Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) compound, has decided to temporary cease operation starting Wednesday to help the government contain the spread of coronavirus.

In a statement, CIPI said: "In light of the evolving COVID–19 situation and because we value your health and safety, we wish to announce the temporary closure of our business operation."

When the health situation improves, the ice plant will resume operations.


PH placed under state of calamity due to Covid-19

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a proclamation, placing the entire Philippines under a state of calamity for six months due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In his Proclamation 929, Duterte stressed that the declaration of a state of calamity nationwide is necessary amid the rise in confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country.

“Despite government interventions, the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 continues to rise,” the proclamation, inked on March 16, read.


COVID-19: South Cotabato has 12 Persons Under Investigation

The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) announced today an update on the monitoring of COVID-19 cases in the province.

To date, the number of Perons Under Monitoring (PUM) was 570 (Period covered Jan 31-March 16)

Persons Under Investigation was 12.

PESU reported that an increase in PUM was due to the influx of new flight arrivals.

Duterte alerts nation vs. COVID-19, orders cancellation of some govt works, suspension of classes

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire Metro Manila under “community quarantine” as the government tries to contain the spread COVID-19.

In his nationwide address Thursday night, Duterte said he approved the recommendation to put the National Capital Region (NCR) under isolation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

He said he approved the suspension of land, domestic air, and domestic sea travel to and from Metro Manila starting March 15, until April 14, 2020.


Covid-19 cases in PH rise to 52: DOH

MANILA – The country's confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients have increased to 52, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Thursday - as government health authorities urged the public to cooperate and help in its continuous contact tracing efforts.

Patient No. 50 is a 69-year-old female and is confined at the Medical City while Patient No. 51 is a 26-year-old male currently being treated at the Makati Medical Center, both of whom had no travel history outside the country, the DOH said on its updated data sheet released to the media.
