Wearing of facemask now required in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here on Tuesday approved Ordinance No. 4758 requiring all residents to wear face masks in all public places as added protection against the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The wearing of face masks will go beyond even after the scheduled May 15 implementation of the general community quarantine here, the ordinance states.

Currently, the city remains under the enhanced community quarantine measure that is set to end on. April 30.

2 dead, 42 downed by diarrhea in Maguindanao's island village

COTABATO CITY – Two children have died from dehydration and another 42 individuals were confirmed to have diarrhea in an island village in Parang, Maguindanao, the health ministry of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) today said.

Minister Saffrulah Dipatuan of the Ministry of Health BARMM (MOH-BARM) has immediately deployed health teams to investigate, treat and gather samples of stools from the victims and the water source used by the affected residents.


BARMM to finish 100-bed capacity Covid-19 facility in 3 weeks

COTABATO CITY — BARMM IATF Spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Mohd Asnin Pendatun announced Tuesday, April 21, that the Bangsamoro Government targets to finish the construction of 100-bed capacity isolation center dedicated for the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) patients in three (3) weeks.

During the Tuesday’s virtual presser held in Cotabato City, Pandatun said, “batay sa update ng Ministry of Public Works, ina-anticipate po natin na matatapos po ito within three weeks.”

DA redirects programs to ensure enough foood production in Mindanao

KORONADAL CITY - The Department of Agriculture (DA) is eyeing the redirection of some of its programs to make sure that there is enough food produced in Mindanao amid the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

“We will look at our current banner programs and see how we can refocus them to address some food production issues brought by this global crisis,” DA Undersecretary Zamzamin Ampatuan said.


Improvised explosives found in Guindulungan

MAGUINDANAO --- Army bomb experts promptly defused Wednesday two roadside bombs that villagers found in separate spots in Guindulungan town. 

The improvised explosive devices, fashioned from live 60 and 80 millimeter mortar projectiles, were immediately disassembled by members of the 7th Infantry Battalion and the Army’s 3rd Explosive Ordnance Team.

Police major slain in Sultan Kudarat shooting

COTABATO CITY--- A police major was killed instantly after he succumbed to multiple gunshots in his chest and neck while driving his pick-up vehicle in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat this afternoon with his wife and daughter.

The victim is Police Major Victorino Pansoy assigned in Internal Affairs Services in Davao Del Sur Police in Region 11.

The incident took place in front of Pama boarding house, Purok Riverside, Barangay Sampao, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat around 4:42 this afternoon.


Cotabato City LGU to issue new quarantine passes

COTABATO CITY - The local govenrment of Cotabato, in its bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus by limiting people's mobility unless extremely important, will soon issue new quarantine pass, Mayor Cynthia Guiani Sayadi said.

Despite the enhanced community quarantine being imposed in the city, more people are on the streets with their private vehicles in an obvious display of disrespect to the preventive measure. The new passes will further limit peoples' mobility in the city.
