Magnitude 4.0 quake hits Moro Gulf

COTABATO CITY – A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits Moro Gulf today that affected Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao, the state volcanology and seismology office said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the quake, tectonic in origin, struck at 9:10 a.m.

It was traced 65 km east of Tabina, Zamboanga del Sur and has a depth of 012 kilometers.

In its bulletin, the Phivolcs said Intensity II was felt in Cotabato City, Intensity I in Kiamba, Sarangani.

Fire hits Koronadal school

KORONADAL CITY - A fire of still unknown origin damaged a private school and a commercial establishmewnt along corner Santiago Odi and Balmores Streets, this city.

The conflagration started at about 3:45 p.m. according to arson investigators. The damage school was Southern Institure of Technical Education (SITE) and Driving School.

The cost of damages and fire origin are still being determined by Koronadal City Bureau of Fire Pretection.

3 soldiers slain, 9 hurt in military camp blast in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY - An explosion transpired at headquarters of 1st Brigade Combat Team in Tanjung, Indanan, Sulu at 12 noon today, June 28 that left three soldiers kiklled and 9 others wounded.

The wounded were promptly given medical attention by the responding troops.

Troops of the Joint Task Force Sulu are currently on alert.

Combat clearing operations and investigations are continuously being conducted in Sulu today.

Piñol resigns as DA chief, Sen. Bong Go says

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Senator-elect Christopher Bong Go today said Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol has offered to resign from his post and that the President is eyeing the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) as Piñol’s new post.

Speaking to reporters, Go said Piñol was willing to relinquish his post in a letter to President Duterte.

Abuloy sa patay ninakaw sa Koronadal, mga suspek huli

KORONADAL CITY – Huli ang dalawa katao matapos na nakawin ang abuloy sa patay na nakaburol sa Southern Funeral homes, Gensan Drive, Koronadal City pasado 1:45 kaninang madaling araw.

Nakilala ang mga suspek na sina Richard Navarro, 34 taong gulang at security guard na taga-Barangay Caloocan, Koronadal City at si Bienvinido De Pedro, 31 taong gulang at nakatira sa Barangay Zone 1, Koronadal City.

Sinabi ni John Garcia, isang retired pulis na naroon sa lamay, nakita niyang kinuha ng isa sa dalawang mga suspek ang abuloy sa patay na abot sa sa halagang P3,500.

Fire hits birthing station in Radja Buayan, Maguindanao

RADJA BUAYAN, Maguindanao - A fire believed to be triggerd by electrical connections gutted down a birthing station in Barangay Poblacion Zapakan, Radjah Buayan before dawn Tuesday.

Mayor Zamsamin Ampatuan of Radja Buayan said the fire started at around 2:30 a.m.

Contrary to some media reports, a man arrested for the second time over illegal drug trade is not a “former Catholic priest”.

Local police arrested on Wednesday John Baring Ferolin, 42, during a buy bust operation in Matalam, North Cotabato.

The reports quoted Matalam police chief Joseph Brian Placer saying Ferolin was “a former minister of the Mission Society of the Philippines”.

Manoy dies

 

MANILA, Philippines — Manoy is gone. Manoy have left memories that the movie industry cherished to date.

Veteran actor Eddie Garcia returned to his Creator Thursday afternoon at the Makati Medical Center. He was 90 years old.

Citing a medical bulletin, doctors at the Makati Medical Center, said Garcia, Eduardo Garcia in real life, died at 4:55 p.m.

“We join the entire Filipino community in praying for the soul of Mr. Garcia and his dearly beloved family and friends. We extend our deepest condolences to the Garcia family,” the medical bulletin read.
