Children suffering most from brunt of tremors

KIDAPAWAN CITY --- It is the children suffering most from the brunt of earthquakes that jolted Kidapawan City and nearby towns in North Cotabato.

Health workers are scrambling to provide children with medical interventions to prevent the spread of contagious diseases in evacuation sites.

Thousands of evacuees do not have access to clean water and restrooms.


2 die, scores hurt in Maguindanao highway mishap

COTABATO CITY  – Two persons were killed and at least 20 others were hurt when a cargo truck loaded with passengers lost its brakes and hit the roadside railings in a highway in South Upi, Maguindanao Friday.

Members of South Upi municipal police office, headed by Major Ronald M de Leon, town police chief, rushed the victims to a hospital in Barangay Tinaman after the 4 p.m. highway mishap.

KORONADAL CITY - For still unknown reason, a brand new Mitsubishi Montero breaks through a bridge railings in Barrio Dos, Tacurong City and landed head first along Kapingkong River early today.


Tornado destroys buildings in Marawi City

LANAO DEL SUR --- The strong tornado that ripped through five barangays in Marawi City Monday destroyed 43 houses, an auditorium, seven classrooms and a private vehicle, officials said Tuesday.

Key members of the Lanao del Sur provincial disaster risk reduction and management council said the office of Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. is now attending to the needs of affected residents.


Truck helper dies when tanker figured in highway mishap in N. Cotabato

MAKILALA, North Cotabato - He just accompanied the truck driver to deliver water to quake victims in Makilala, North Cotabato Tuesday morning.

But fate did not come with the man whose identity was not made available as of posting.  He was pinned to death when the Davao City-based Dumoy Fresh Water figured in a highway mishap after the driver lost control of its steering wheel and fell on its side beside the concrete roadside wall. 



First drone images show damages, imminent danger

KIDAPAWAN CITY - As the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) sets up its field office in Kidapawan City today to support relief and rehabilitation efforts, the first drone-generated photos taken yesterday showed the extent of the damage and the mountain-side communities which may have to be abandoned because of landslides.

Many of these communities are in the City of Kidapawan, Magpet, Tulunan and Makilala in North Cotabato and Magsaysay, Bansalan and Matanao.


14 trapped villagers in quake-ravaged NoCot town airlifted to safety

MAKILALA, North Cotabato – Fourteen villagers trapped in an isolated village of Luayon here following the Oct. 29 tremor have been rescued after they were safely airlifted from the site to the town proper here.

North Cotabato Board Member Shirlyn Macasarte, serving as acting vice governor, led the rescue operation Sunday morning in landslide-ravaged village using two Philippine Air Force choppers.

Macasarte said the mission this morning was to rescue 21 trapped villagers who were unable to evacuate due to landslides.


Datu Odin Sinsuat town Mayor Ombra Sinsuat dies

COTABATO CITY - Mayor Ombra Sinsuat of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao has died today due to lilngering illness, his relatives said in separate statements.

Maguindanao Vice Gov. Lester Sinsuat confirmed in his FB page the demise of his father at past 4 p.m.

Sinsuat died while undergoing medication at St. Lukes hospital in Quezon City.

No other details were made available as of posting.


RDRRMC: Earthquakes death toll in Region 12 rose to 11

KIDAPAWAN CITY – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) that the fatalities of two major quakes that rocked North Cotabato and nearby provinces have rose to 11.

Two major earthquakes, Magnitude 6.6 on October 29 and Magnitude 6.5 on October 31, hit the province whose residents were still reeling from the effects of Oct. 16 Magnitude 6.3 tremor.

Six died on Oct. 29 and five perished on October 31.

The NDCC also reported 372 persons injured and four were missing after a landslide in Makilala, North Cotabato.


NDBC relief operations for quake victims starts, Good Samaritans offer help

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Dinumog ng libo-libung katao ang himpilan ng DXND-NDBC sa isinagawang relief operation kaninang hapon.

Mahigit sa tatlumpong rolyo ng trapal ang naipamigay kahapon na siyang pinaka kailangan ngayon ng lahat ng biktima ng lindol.

Nabatid na sa bayan ng Makilala, Tulunan at Kidapawan City, maraming mga bahay ang lubhang nasira dulot ng Magnitude 6.5 na lindol.

Libo-libong mga pamamahay rin ang totally damage kaya't nagmistulang tent city ang halos lahat ng barangay sa Makilala, North Cotabato na siyang lubhang apektado.
