Magnitude 4.6 quake hits Tulunan, North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A magnitude 4.6 quake hit Tulunan, North Cotabato Tuesday morning, four days after a magnitude 4.9 quake hits nearby Makilala, also in North Cotabato, the state volcanology office today said.

Tectonic in origin, the quake that came at 7:55 a.m. was traced 10 kilometers east of Tulunan, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a bulletin.

The quake has a depth of 12 kilometers.

Stolen vehicle recovered from possession of police officer

COTABATO CITY --- The Regional Highway Patrol Unit-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao recovered Monday a stolen vehicle from the deputy police chief of Marawi City.

Col. Hesran Mojica, director of the RHPU-BARMM, told reporters here Tuesday the white Ford Everest they seized from Police Captain Santos Monares is now impounded.

Mojica said Monares, deputy chief of the Marawi City police, asserted that he merely purchased the sports utility vehicle from a captain assigned in the Police Regional Office-10 based in Cagayan de Oro City.

Classes suspended as floods hit Kabacan central school

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Classes were suspended in Kabacan Pilot Elementary School (KPES) today due to knee-deep floods that penetrated several classrooms following an overnight heavy downpour that hit North Cotabato Tuesday.

Don David Saure, the town’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO), said the heavy downpour resulted to Kabacan and Pulangi Rivers to overflow affecting the low-lying villages including the said school.

For Mindanao, Palawan: Solar water supply, desalination plants

DAVAO CITY - Remote and off-grid villages and island communities of Mindanao and Palawan will soon have sources of water for drinking and irrigation.

The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) and an Israeli Agricultural Company, with the support of the Department of Interior and Lical Governments, agreed to design a technical and financial plan to provide Mindanao villages with Solar-Powered Water Supply and Desalination Plants.

Basileño doctor arrested in Maguindanao for cybercrime cases

COTABATO CITY --- The police detained in Parang, Maguindanao a physician charged with 26 counts of cybercrime in a court in Zamboanga City.

Lt.Col. Ibrahim Jambiran, chief of the Parang municipal police office, confirmed in a written report dated September 24, 2019 that they are in custody of Chao-Tiao II New Yumol of Lamitan City in Basilan province.

Yumol surrendered to the Bangsamoro regional police office, also located in Parang town in the first district of Maguindanao, earlier the same day.

Suspects in the killing of broadcaster Ed Dizon indicted for murder

MANILA - Murder charges were filed against all three suspects in the killing of Eduardo Dizon, an anchor of Brigada News FM in Kidapawan City.

The case was filed on Wednesday, 18 September 2019, just as the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) Member-Agencies and Media Observers were holding their regular meeting in Malacañang, according to Undersecretary Joel Sy Egco, PTFoMS executive director.
