Magnitude 3.4 quake hit Datu Paglas, Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY - A 3.4 magnitude earthquake hit Datu Paglas, Maguindanao Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) today said.No immediatereport ofcasualty or damage to property.The tremor which occurred at 3:46 p.m. was traced 6 kilometers south east of Datu Paglas and has a depth of 18 kilometers.The earthquake was tectonic in origin.Earlier in the day, two earthquake were monitored by Phivolcs to have hit the coastal town ofKalamansig in Sultan Kudarat with an average 3.6 magnitude.The first quake occurred at 6:26 and second at 8:38 a.m.

Labor chief sees productive 14th National PESO Congress

KORONADAL CITY -The chief of the country's labor department today expressed confidence the 14th National Public Employment Services Office (PESO) Congress which opened in nearby Gen. Santos City will be productive and achieve its goal of preparing the country's network of PESOs for the opportunities and challenges of the ASEAN integration. Kidapawan PNP forms special team to probe treasury robbery

KIDAPAWAN CITY
– Kidapawan City Treasurer’s Elsa Palmones today denied reports the robbery
that occurred at her office was a cover-up of un-liquidated funds.
Our office
had just underwent auditing by the Commission on Audit and all funds are
accounted for,” she told Radyo Bida Kidapawan.
Police here
have formed a special team to probe the robbery at the city hall treasurer’s office
where almost half million pesos were taken by robbers.

SoCot gov't to put up classroom inside provincial jail

KORONADAL CITY
- To provide education opportunities for inmates, the provincial government of
South Cotabato will build a classroom at the Provincial Detention and
Rehabilitation Center (SCPRDC).

Felecito
Gumapac, OIC provincial jail warden of the detention facility, said the
provincial government has allocated a million peso for the implementation of
the project.

There are eight Jubilarians - four celebrate their presbyteral jubilee and four celebrate the jubilee of their religious profession. The four jubilarians of their presbyteral ordination are H.E. Orlando Cardinal Quevedo and Fr. Jose Ante for 50th Fr. Jun Mercado for his 40th and Fr. Danny Sergio and Fr.Raffy Tianero for their 25th. The four who celebrate their religious profession are Fr. Phil Estrella for his 40th Fr. Dennis Gui, Fr. Rito Daquipil and Fr.Oscar Lucas for their 25th.

Catheryn Canete-Formanez of Barangay Magallon passed the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and became thefirst IP resident of this town to become CPA for the past 63 years. Formanez is a pure lumad” who belongs to the Kaulo tribe that usually lives in mountain tops.

OWWA-ARMM honors MOYFA winners

COTABATO CITY
– The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (OWWA-ARMM) Thursday honoured the region’s Model Overseas Filipino
Worker Family of the Year (MOFYA).

Habib Malik,
OWWA-ARMM regional supervisor, identified this year’s awardees as Engr. Elias
Ote from Marawi City who won the MOFYA-land based category and Umal Lamalan, a
seaman for sea-based category.

The two will
represent the region in the national search.

SK solon proposes prawn, crab nursery in Kalamansig

COTABATO CITY –
Sultan Kudarat 2nd district Rep. Arnulfo Go has filed a bill in
Congress seeking to establish a prawn, crab and inland fishing nursery in the
coastal town of Kalamansig to help increase marine preservation and production as
well as livelihood to the locals.

In filing
House Bill 1873, Go said through his bill the practice of traditional fishing
in Kalamansig and nearby areas, could be improved.
