DA launches banner program to help Halal food industry

COTABATO CITY -- A new priority program of the Department of
Agriculture (DA) is set to bolster a specific industry in the country.

The Halal Food Industry Development
Program (HFIDP) was officially launched here on April 2, 2018 as a banner
program of the DA.

The launching of the program was
anchored on Republic Act 10817 otherwise known as the Philippine Halal Export
Development and Promotion Act of 2016.


Duterte asks govt bank to provide loan access to farmers

DA Cotabato embarks on ‘adlay’ production as ‘alternative food crop’

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- The office of the provincial agriculturist (OPA) in North Cotabato has embarked on doing further studies of an old cereal variety, which could replace rice as staple Filipino food.The variety is called, adlay, which the OPA considers as a healthy cereal, and best alternative to rice.


Ibutigen rice farmers thank DA-Maguindanao for continued assistance

Farmers of Barangay Ibutigen in Sultan Kudarat,
Maguindanao expressed gratitude for the harvest techonoly shared to them the by
Department of Agriculture-Maguindanao in the recent Jollirice Harvest Festival.

The activity was organized by the Sultan Kudarat
Municipal Agriculture Office under Munisipal Agricultural Officer Guiapar
Esmail with assistance from DA-Maguindanao as part of its High Yielding
Technology Adoption project.


Farmers in 6 Maguindanao towns get UN-FAO aid

COTABATO CITY -- Approximately 3,000 farmers in six towns of Maguindanao received
agricultural input packages from the United Nations Food and Agriculture
Organization (UN-FAO) with the help of Magungaya Mindanao Incorporated (MMI),
its partner non-government organization (NGO).

DA sends NorCot farmers to Papua New Guinea to start demo farm

KIDAPAWAN CITY – At least 22 farmers from North Cotabato would be sent to Papua New Guinea (PNG) to work in the 100-hectare rice demonstration farm that will soon rise once the Duterte administration inks a final deal with the PNG government, Agriculture Secretary Manny Pinol said.The farmers, Pinol said, would come from his hometown in M’lang, North Cotabato.
